ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING IN AEROSPACE

Additive Manufacturing technologies are positively impacting all areas of Aerospace. From production aids and tooling to cabin components and end use parts, all of the top 10 leading Aerospace companies are using Additive to transform all areas of aircraft development and component production.

Whether you are a Tier 1 or 2 supplier, operate in Civil, Commercial or Military Aircraft, MRO (Maintenance & Repair Operations), Space Applications or Auxiliary services, there is a multitude of quick wins to achieve with Additive Manufacturing in Aerospace.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

TOOLING, JIGS & FIXTURES

Produce strong, lightweight, better performing tooling, jigs and fixtures, at less time and cost, to aid manufacture and assembly across production lines.

3D print in ULTEM™ 9085 Filament

Print parts in ULTEM™ 9085 Filament (Polyetherimide, PEI) high temperature material to Markforged's composite industrial 3D printer, the FX20.

This functional thermoplastic material has outstanding elevated thermal resistance, high strength and stiffness, and broad chemical resistance.

With the option to reinforce with Carbon Fibre, you can additively manufacture high performance parts, complete assemblies, large tooling, prototypes and production parts.

Aeropsace Specialist Additive Platforms

Markforged Additive Platforms are the simplest way to fabricate advanced composite and metal parts, with functional materials available:

  • Specialist Nylons;

    • Onyx, a non-marring Nylon with micro-carbon fibres, is ideal for tooling and production aids

    • Flame-retardant Onyx FR-A and Carbon Fibre FR-A are Aerospace specific materials and come with lot-level material traceability

  • Metals including Inconel, Copper and Stainless Steel enable you to print complex geometries

  • Blacksmith, an in-process laser inspection system provides part consistency and approval

  • Ongoing NCAMP qualification for Onyx FR-A and Carbon Fiber FR-A on the X7
